Founded in 1860 by Thomas Ogden who had a small tobacconists in Park lane in Liverpool. Within a relatively short space of time several more shops opened under the Ogdens banner and in 1866 a tobacco factory.
The business was very successful leading to a number of retail premises and 6 different tobacco factories in Liverpool. The company remained in business until the 1960’s (then owned by Imperial Tobacco). Although the brand still exists today, the factories are now long gone.
