Established almost 100 years ago, La Galera produces a stunning array of extremely good quality cigars at very affordable prices. Currently owned by Jose ‘Jochy’ Blanco alongside his son José Manuel Blanco, the Galera brand is focused on the quality.
Situated in Santiago, Tamboril, you will find the Tabacalera Palma factory, home to La Galera cigars. It is here where you will find Jose ‘Jochy’ Blanco III and his son craft some of the Dominican Republic’s finest cigars.
Jochy’s great grand father, Manuel Blanco Lozada and emigrated from Spain in the mid-1800’s and found work on the tobacco plantations. It wasn’t until the third generation of the family that cigars started to be a consideration.
It was Jochy’s father Jose Blanco II, who set up the factory in 1925, with Jocky joining him in the business in the 1940’s.
