Jose Piedra are quite a unique brand within the Habanos cigars portfolio and one of the few that are made using short filler tobaccos as opposed to the normal long filler production seen else where.
It was in the 1880’s in the Remedios region of Cuba that the Piedra family, who had emigrated from the Austurius province of Spain, first set up farming the land around the town of Santa Clara.
It wasn’t until the second generation of farmers, led by Jose Lamadrid Piedra, that the brand was first created and marketed.
For short filler cigars these are remarkably good quality and are produced in a medium to full-bodied style. Being short filler they can’t command the prices of Cuba’s long-filler production, so they are always much more reasonably priced than most other Cuban cigars.
