Backwoods cigars were first launched in the USA in 1973 and were one of the few brands that was very heavily advertised. Produced currently by ITG brands (a subsidary of of UK company Imperial Brands) the brand has gained recognition for it’s rustic look. Although many people think these are American, they are in fact made in the Dominican Republic.
The brand was launched at a time in the States when the the first TV tobacco advertising bans had started to happen due to then US President Nixon’s Public Health Cigarette Smoking Act which started in April 1970. They were marketed in such away to get around the legislation place.
These cigars might look rustic but they sure do taste well. They are very smooth due to their high levels of humidity combined with exotic flavours to produce one of the biggest selling aromatic cigars in America & Canada.
