If, like me, you are on a budget for cigars in January, but don’t want to sacrifice on quality, we have a number of wallet friendly cigars that will help tide you through until the end of month. This section will be updated weekly, so pop back every week to see what other bargains we have for you.
One of my favourite producers is Rocky Patel, who has been making cigars for over 30 years. Initially setting up business as the ‘Indian Tabac Cigar Co’ in 1995, it was in 2006 that Rocky re-branded the company using his name. From there he has never looked back and now has a portfolio of over 100 different cigars (only a small proportion of which are available here in the UK).
The Rocky Patel Seed To Smoke Toro’s are a superb smoke for the money (£12.32 each) and come in two distinct variants. The first is the Seed To Smoke Shade Grown. Using mixed filler tobaccos sourced from Nicaragua and Honduras which produces a gorgeous, hour long mellow smoke.
The Seed To Smoke Maduro Toro is a medium-bodied blend rolled in Honduran Maduro wrappers. Like the Shade grown version, it utilises mixed-filler tobaccos of Honduran and Nicaraguan origin and are bunched in a Honduran binder.
Both versions are cracking smokes for the money – there is no need to sacrifice on quality in January with these two!
Monday the 10th of November will see the relaese of the 2024 Habanos Limited Edition Ramon Allones Absolutos. The Absolutos is a Nuevos vitola measuring 6 ⅛” (155mm) x 49 ring gauge and is presented in stylish boite nature boxes containing 20 double banded cigars.
Ernest Perez Carrillo certainly has the Midas touch when creating new cigars as it seems that everything he has created turns to gold. Over the years Ernesto has won Cigar Aficionados highly prized ‘Cigar Of The year’ award TWICE and was runner up on third occasion.
One of Ernesto’s award winning Cigars was the E P Carrillo Encore Majestic, which won the top prize in 2018. It was a Robusto of immaculately detailed flavour that ranges from oak and tea to caramel sweetness with tangy citrus pops of candied orange peel. It was without a doubt a stunning cigar and worthy of all the accolades thrust upon it.
In April 2024, Ernesto added the Limited Edition Unico Solidarious to Encore range – Utilising a selection of aged Nicaraguan tobaccos, some as much as 10 years (filler tobaccos), he has created an exceptionally complex cigar. Medium to full in style, the cigar has notes of nuts, leather and some sweet spices. This is a great cigar and deserves to be given its due – enjoy over an hour!
