During the latter part of the 1700s a family known for its silversmithing in England decided to take on a new opportunity. Sensing success in this new endeavor. The owner of this silversmithing company Benjamin Barling started outfitting meerschaum bowls with exquisite silver mountings, founding B.Barling and sons in 1812. Over the ensuing years the company gained and maintained a unique reputation for the characteristics and interpretations of its pipes.
