The Pairing My Father Le Bijou 1922 Toro/Kilchoman Machir Bay

Cigar And Spirit Pairings

Description

The Cigar

Made by Jose ‘Pepin’ Garcia in honour of his late father, this full bodied Nicaraguan offers a richly aromatic smoke, with deep, intense cedery leather notes and a delightfully long finish. The Torpedo version of this cigar won Cigar Aficionado’s ‘Cigar Of The Year’ for 2015 – this is equally as good!

The Whisky

The palate is gristy and barley’d with dry, earthy peat, tar, liquorice, treacle and loads of salt. Subtle apricot, apple and pear come through on the middle. Long, very smoky with dry peat, subtle, sweet dried fruit and earthy spice on the finish. I’m sure the sherry component lessens with every passing year!

Machir Bay delivers classic Islay peat smoke with waves of citrus, vanilla, and sea breeze. Set against the rich, full-bodied strength of My Father’s Le Bijou 1922 Toro — packed with dark chocolate, spice, and earthy depth — this is a bold and balanced pairing for seasoned palates.
