Rocky Patel is, without a doubt, one of the world’s greatest cigar makers. For a man who has been in the industry for over 30 years, and to keep coming up with new releases that are not only interesting but enjoyable is a feat in itself!
The latest release from Rocky is the Emerald Robusto which continues this amazing streak and is Rocky’s first box-pressed cigar in the light to medium bodied style. The Emerald has an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper draped over dual binders — one from Nicaragua and another from Mexico. The filler is mainly built around Nicaraguan tobacco, with the addition of a single leaf from the Jamastran Valley in Honduras. This combination results in a truly medium-bodied cigar, offering a harmonious balance of flavours.
I had the pleasure of meeting the great man earlier this year (August 2025) and managed to spend around 10 minutes or so with him. He was so enthusiastic about this release, and I can see why, as it is richly flavoured, yet shows elegance and finesse.
