1. Cohiba Siglo IV

As with all Cohiba Siglo cigars the flavours are little smoother and creamier compared to other Cohibas. The Siglo IV has the reputation of being one the best from the Siglo Range (the Siglo VI is outstanding too). The larger 46 gauge allows more flavours to saturate the palate with rich & complex flavours. Distinct grassy, herbaceous flavours are very prominent, with creamy sweet bean flavours making their presence known throughout the cigar. Definitely not for the inexperienced or Dominican smoker due to rich flavours and long smoking time.

2. Montecristo No 2

Voted the World’s finest cigar in 2013 by the cigar journal and Cigar Aficionado.

Legendary is an over used word but not in this case. The ‘ Monte 2’ is certainly full-bodied but not overwhelmingly so. Brimming with aromas of leather, spice and cinnamon the flavours are sweet and gentle.

“The undisputed king of torpedoes is the Montecristo No. 2. The stately smoke with the pointy tip is known the world over … extraordinary, teeming with rich but not overwhelming flavors of leather, such sweet spices as cinnamon and nutmeg and the cigar’s trademark tangy wood note. They have enough flavor and power to satisfy those who smoke cigars on a regular basis without overwhelming those who puff less frequently.” – Cigar Aficionado, Jan 2014

3. Cohiba Siglo II

As with all Cohiba Siglo cigars the flavours are little smoother and creamier compared to the other Cohibas. The Siglo II is one of our biggest selling Cohiba cigars. Creamy with subtle cocoa/coffee bean and grassy flavours. The Siglo II is big enough for more experienced smoker to enjoy a short smoke and for less experienced smokers to truly savour the Cohiba flavours.

5. Romeo Y Julieta No 2

It can be bewildering: brand A against brand C; vitola (size) F against vitola G. It can all be rather confusing. When in doubt, however, Romeo y Julieta is, without doubt, the ‘go-to’, especially the Petit Corona No 2. Perfect for beginners and experienced smokers alike. Not too strong, silky and full of honey-like flavours and aromas.

7. Brick House Robusto Havana Subido Wrapper

Brick House cigars first came on the scene in 1937 when production began in America using 100% imported Cuban leaf. The Embargo saw the end of these cigars along with many other brands that used pure Cuban leaf. Then in 2009, JC Newman resurrected the brand using Nicaraguan filler and Ecuadoran grown Havana Subido seed wrapper.

The cigar is packed full of sweet spices and woods. A little pepper comes into play at the halfway point, but on the whole, it’s a cool and creamy cigar. Not too strong for a novice and enough flavours to act as a mid-day smoke for the more seasoned Nicaraguan smoker.

8. A J Fernandez Bellas Artes Maduro Robusto

The second line to be introduced under the AJ Fernandez Bellas Artes series, Bellas Artes Maduro Robusto was awarded Cigar of The Year 2019 by the Cigar Journal. The combination of a Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper and a Mexican San Andres binder is rather unusual but highly appreciated. This cigar offers the scent of bread, spices, cacao, sweetness, nutty woody and leathery aromas. The intense aromas are carried by a gentle saltiness, pepper and acidity.

10. Partagas Serie D No 4

This has always been a perennial favourite of ours. It is certainly a full-on cigar and, to the uninitiated perhaps a little too much, but the complex array of flavours and aromas are certainly worth the effort. A perfect accompaniment to a fine Champagne Cognac!
